No matter how your marble floor is finished, you want to avoid very alkaline or acidic materials on marble, opting instead for washing with a neutral, mild detergent. Very alkaline materials include borax, ammonia, washing soda, and even soap (which will leave a film), whereas vinegar is acidic. Vacuum the floor thoroughly a few times a week, and when needed wash with the mild detergent and water using a soft mop. Rinse thoroughly, then polish dry with a soft rag.
